Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain more convenience as a base control software by making clear a criterion concerning which correction items should be changed without having any effect upon the other correction items if no good condition occurs on air-fuel ratio controllability in a certain operating range.
CONSTITUTION: According to an engine operating conditions, a combustible limit equivalent ratio &phiv tw which shows a combustible limit on the lean side by a relation to cooling water temperature, a maximum output equivalent ratio &phiv ful which is set under a condition where an engine performs maximum output, an exhaust gas temperature limit equivalent ratio &phiv tex for fuel cooling which restrains exhaust gas temperature rising below a designed limit, a catalyst purifying factor best equivalent ratio &phiv gas which is set under a condition where exhaust gas is purified, and a fuel consumption best equivalent ratio &phiv eco which sets the equivalent ratio at which the best fuel consumption is obtained are set, and the maximum value of them is set as a target equivalent ratio COEF. An in-cylinder suction fuel mass Gfuel per one inspiration stroke corresponding to a target air-fuel ratio where preset theoretical air-fuel ratio F/A is corrected at the target equivalent ratio is computed based on an in-cylinder intake air mass Gair for respective cylinders.
