Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve grinding efficiency, electrical insulation properties and high-temp. corrosion resistance with good yield by adding and mixing halide to/with a specified raw material and melting the mixture and thereafter cooling and crushing the mixture, removing and separating an oxyhalide phase generated in a grain boundary with inorganic acids etc. CONSTITUTION:An Al2O3 raw material is obtained from an Al2O3 single substance or by mixing Al2O3 with one or more hinds of CrO, TiO2 and V2O3, etc., having a solid-solution type. Then 0.5-15wt.% halide such as fluoride and chloride is added and mixed to/with this raw material and the mixture is melted, cooled and solidified and an oxyhalide phase is produced in the matrix part of the obtained ingot. Aluminous single crystal particles are obtained by removing this oxyhalide phase with inorganic acid or alkali. Aluminous single crystal particles are produced by coating 0.01-2.0wt.% fine granular SiO2 powder having 0.005-0.5mum mean primary particle diameter on the surface of the single crystal particles in accordance with necessity and calcining these particles at 900-1200 deg.C. Furthermore a polisher made of these single crystal particles is manufactured in accordance with necessity.
