To obtain a new compound having strong hypoglycemic action, hypolipidemic action, insulin resistance-ameliorating action, etc., and useful as a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent e.g. for insulin resistance diseases, inflammatory diseases and neurological diseases.
This new compound is an amidocarboxylic acid derivative expressed by formula I [wherein R1 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 7-12C aralkyl or the like; R2 is a 1-6C alkylene; R3 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy or the like; R4 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; Z is a 1-6C alkylene; W is a 1-6C alkyl, hydroxy or the like and; X is a 6-10C aryl or the like] and is e.g. 2-ethoxy-3-[4-[2-[4-(2- pyridyl)benzoylamino]ethoxy]phenyl]propionic acid. The compound of formula I easily is obtained e.g. by acylating a compound of formula II (wherein W1 is a protected amino group or the like and; M is an ester residue) and then by removing the ester residue. The compound of formula I contained as an effective ingredient provide a hypoglycemic agent.
