Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of horizontal noise caused by an electronic shutter by making the timing in which a reset signal is transmitted to an optical pixel row overlap with the timing in which other pixel rows are selected to read.
SOLUTION: The timing in which a reset signal transmitting means transmits a reset signal to an optional pixel row overlaps with the timing in which a row selecting means selects other pixel rows to read. This device 1 is provided with at least one dummy pixel row other than m normal pixel rows. Each pixel in the dummy pixel row includes a photodiode and a transistor in the same manner as a pixel 2 and is connected to a load circuit 30 and a column selection drive part 7 through a vertical signal line. A reset signal for an electronic shutter is given to each pixel row in an image picking up part by providing the dummy pixel row in this way and driving it in the same manner as the image picking up part in an effective pixel area. Thus, horizontal noise is prevented from appearing on the screen.
