PURPOSE: To obtain a new antagonistic agent useful for diseases in alimentary systems such as gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, gastritis, regurgitant esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome or gastrin-sensitive pancreas, a disorder in the central nervous system such as a disorder in the appestat system, a pain or an anxiety.
CONSTITUTION: This antagonistic agent contains a compound (salt) of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H, a lower alkyl, benzyl, etc.; R3 and R4 are each H, methyl or a halogen, except that either of R1 and R2 is isobutyl, isopropenyl or benzyl; the other is benzyl and R3 and R4 are both H) as an active ingredient. The compound is obtained by culturing Aspergillus sp. Q20547 strain in a modified culture medium prepared by modifying the amino acid composition by adding an analog compound, etc., of L-tryptophan or L-phenylalanine thereto, preferably according to a submerged culture method using a liquid culture medium containing preferably glucose, meat extract and an Na salt, etc., added thereto and collecting the compound from the resultant culture.
