Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid catalyst component containing electron donor selected from specific kinds of diketone, and to provide a catalyst for olefin polymerization using the same.
SOLUTION: The solid catalyst component contains a magnesium halide in active form, a titanium compound, and an electron donor compound selected from 1,3-diketone of formula A. The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises the component and an Al-alkyl compound and, optionally, a reaction product of the electron-donor compound. By using a new kind of diketone as an internal donor, sufficient performance in catalyst productivity and stereospecificity is provided.
