PURPOSE: To set an erased area finely by simple, small-size additional constitution and to record additional characters clearly as a positive image by controlling dot-by-dot erasure of a latent image in the breadthwise direction of a photosensitive body by using a liquid -crystal shutter.
CONSTITUTION: The CPU 80 of a main control part which reacts to scale print specification, etc., controls an eraser control unit incorporating a CPU 241A, etc., to perform necessary process control. Then, two breadthwise dot arrays of liquid crystal shutters 244 of the photosensitive body are controlled through a liquid crystal driver 245 to control the dot-by-dot cut off of irradiation light by the cathode-ray tube 242 of an erasing light source to erase a latent image formed on the photosensitive body as desired. Consequently, the erased area is set finely with high precision by the simple, small-size additional constitution and additional characters are recorded clearly as a positive image.
