PURPOSE: To receive accurately a prescribed amount of mud sample collected from each of a plurality of positions of the sea bottom under the same pressure as that of the sea bottom, for the investigation and research of a microorganism existing in mud of the bottom of an abyss.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of sample vessels 1A, 1B, 1C, opened at the upper ends and whose middle parts are provided with ball valves, to receive a constant quantity of a mud sample sampled from the sea bottom; an accumulator 2 to keep constantly pressure within each of the plurality of sample vessels; a vessel 3, to receive the plurality of sample vessels and the accumulator, rotatable with a constant pitch around an immovable vertical shaft 6 together with the plurality of sample vessels and the accumulator; an immovable cover 4 having a supplying hole of the mud sample, and covering the upper end opening of the vessel 3 are constructed. Mud samples in order collected are stored within the plurality of sample vessels by the rotation of the vessel 3 with a constant pitch.
