Abstract:
PURPOSE:To easily connect an optical transmission line, etc., to an optical coupler by fitting guide pins formed on the connection end surface of a compo nent for optical communication or the optical transmission line in guide holes formed in the connection end surface of the other component for optical commu nication. CONSTITUTION:The optical coupler 10 is constituted by forming a drawn part 14 by heating and drawing a part of a twin-core fiber 13 which has two cores 11 and 11 arrayed in parallel and covered with a glass-made clad 12 having a lower refractive index than the cores 11. In both end surfaces, the two guide holes 15 and 15 are formed so as to stand side by side in a direction intersecting orthogonally with the parallel direction of the two cores 11 and 11. The guide pins provided on the connection end surface of the other component for optical communication or optical transmission line are fitted in those holes 15 to couple than together.
