The device comprises a brush roll 15 wherein the brush is mixed with abrasive grains of #600 or more in grain size, a doctor 30, a hood 16 surrounding sections other than the contact section with the surface of the roll 1 of the brush roll 15 and the tip section of the doctor blade 40 of the doctor 30, and a suction mechanism for sucking the air in the hood 16. The foreign matters stuck to the surface of the roll 1 are scratched off by the brush roll 15, resulting in the polishing the surface of the roll 1, and the foreign matters could not be removed by the brush roll 15 are removed by the doctor blade 40 from the surface of the roll 1. The foreign matters scratched off are sucked out by the suction mechanism. The foreign matters on the surface of the roll 1 can effectively be removed, and the surface of the roll 1 is kept good, and the gloss of the product is maintained excellent.
