Abstract:
To produce a PBO polymer having a high degree of polymerization by decreasing the concentration of 4,6-diaminophenol and its salt which are impurities existing in diaminoresordcinol and its salt to ≤0.1%.
By selecting an appropriate solvent in a reduction process of converting 1,3-dibenzyloxy-4,6-dinitrobenzene into which 0.4-0.8% 1-chloro-3- benzyloxy-4,6-dinitrobenzene is mixed to 4,6-diaminoresorcinol, the diaminoresorcinol and its salt having ≤0.1% content of 2,4-diaminophenol and its salt can be obtained. By polymerizing the diaminoresorcinol and its salt, with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its derivative, a polybenzoxazole polymer which gives a molded product such as a fiber and a film can be obtained.
