This device is equipped with a disk which has a recording area where data can be recorded and a management area where management information on the recording state of the recording area is recorded, a recording area detection part 4 which retrieves and determines a continuous recordable area for recording data according to the management information on the recordable area recorded in the management area, a system control part 1 which outputs a recording control signal for the start and end of recording to the disk control part, and a disk control part 2 which records data to the disk 3 according to the recording control signal.
