An acceleration standby state of a vehicle is determined, when an engine is in an idle state and one of a foot brake 19 and a parking brake 21 in is in a brake action state. When the vehicle is in the acceleration transition state and the brake 19 or the brake 21 which has been in the brake action state during the acceleration state of the vehicle is in predetermined acceleration operation for a brake release state, an acceleration transition state of the vehicle is determined, and an EGR valve 17 is closed to stop circulation of EGR gas and the SCV 59 is opened to quickly and effectively consume the EGR gas.
