To provide a method of manufacturing an electrode, by which an electrochemical electrode having high durability is made by increasing the surface area of a conductive diamond layer to improve the electrode activity and when coating the catalytic layer of an electrode material on the conductive diamond layer, by increasing adhesiveness between both layers.
There is provided the method of forming the catalytic layer of the electrode material having a platinum group metal and/or the oxide in the conductive diamond layer on which fine pores are formed by keeping an electrode base body selected from carbon on which a conductive diamond is formed, titanium, tantalum and niobium at a temperature of ≥400°C and ≤1,000°C under water vapor to form the fine pores in the conductive diamond layer, and there is also provided the electrode.
