PURPOSE: To provide an electron source having electron emitting elements of such a structure as capable of removing shortcircuit in the element generated on the way of the manufacturing process and of repairing the shortcircuited part.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of electron emitting elements 104 are furnished as having a conductive film 3 striding over three element electrodes 4, 5, 5', and the element electrode 4 of each element 104 is connected with a row direction wiring 102, and element electrodes 5, 5' are connected with the column direction wiring 103 through heat evaporating wirings 105, 105'. Even in case the element electrodes 4, 5 are shortcircuited, it can be repaired by thermally breaking the wiring 105.
