Abstract:

To provide fat precursor cells controlling the differentiation into fat cells from the outside of the cells and to provide a method for screening in order to search for a compound regulating the differentiation into the fat cells by using the cells.

Established fat precursor cells have a DNA structure in which a Stat5 gene is expressibly linked to the downstream side of a promoter region inducible with doxycycline. A method for screening the compound having an activity for regulating the induction of the differentiation into the fat cells comprises the following. In the fat precursor cells, the differentiation into the fat cells is induced and the cells in which the differentiation into the fat cells is induced are brought into contact with a test compound. The degree of the differentiation of the cells brought into contact with the test compound into the fat cells is measured. The degree of the differentiation of the cells into the fat cells is compared with the degree of the differentiation of control cells into the fat cells to judge the activity of the test compound for regulating the induction of the differentiation into the fat cells.
