Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust manifold that reduces fluctuations in thermal conductivity of an inner wall of branch pipes and a cluster pipe.
SOLUTION: An exhaust manifold comprises a plurality of branch pipes 3 that connect to an engine cylinder head, a cluster pipe 2 that connects to the branch pipes, and an exhaust portion 4 that is provided at substantially a central position of the cluster pipe. The following provisions are made to reduce fluctuations in the thermal conductivity of the inner wall of the branch pipes and cluster pipe. The ratio of the maximum Xmax to the minimum Xmin of X that is expressed by an equation of X=Q0.8/A0.9 where the flow rate of an exhaust gas flowing through the branch pipes 3a to 3f and the cluster pipe 2 is Q (mm3/s) and the cross sectional area of the branch pipes and cluster pipe is A (mm2), i.e., Y=Xmax/Xmin is set so as to realize 1≤Y≤2.
