Abstract:
To provide a fixing device that comprises an endless fixing belt with a reduced heat capacity, and can prevent adhesion of toner dirt to a surface of the belt without providing a cleaning mechanism.SOLUTION: A fixing device comprises, in a housing 40: a rotatable endless fixing belt 21; a nip forming member 24; a support member 25 that supports the nip forming member 24; an opposing rotating body 22 that forms a nip part N with the fixing belt 21; and a heat source 23 that heats the fixing belt 21, and the fixing device has an inlet guide member 42 that guides a recording medium P to the nip part N in an inlet opening 41 through which the recording medium P is carried in, and conveys the recording medium P carrying an unfixed image T to the nip part N to fix the unfixed image T to the recording medium P. The fixing device further comprises: air current generation means that generates an air current on the inside of the housing 40; and an air guide member that guides the air current F2 toward the inlet opening 41. The fixing device generates the flow of air F3 in the inlet opening 41 in a direction different from a conveyance direction D of the recording medium P.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
