Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit that controls a current so that no unnecessary heavy current flows in a fixing heater.SOLUTION: A fixing unit includes: a fixing heater 305 heated by power supplied from an AC power source 406, for heating a sheet with a toner image transcripted thereon; a temperature detection element 405 for detecting a temperature of the fixing heater 305; and a control circuit 404 for controlling a power-feeding time to the fixing heater 305 per given power-feeding time on the basis of the temperature detected by the temperature detection element 405 and a target temperature of the fixing heater 305. The control circuit 404 gradually increases a power-feeding time after starting feeding of an AC current to the fixing heater 305 by the given power-feeding time, and determines an upper limit of a power-feeding time for the fixing heater 305 thereafter, on the basis of the power-feeding time when a temperature detected by the temperature detection element 405 reaches the target temperature.
