PURPOSE: To achieve labour reduction by automating a step of fixing a paper end of a take-up roll.

CONSTITUTION: A vacuum device 70 is set on a take-up roll R which is in turn rotated while vacuuming is being performed. When a paper end of the take-up roll R has reached a vacuum surface, the rotation of the take-up roll R is stopped, and the vacuum device 70 is lifted, and only the paper end of the take-up roll is picked up. A double-sided tape is adhered onto the portion of the take-up roll R at the position at which the paper end is picked up. Subsequently, the paper end is pressed by a pressing roller 90 while the take-up roll R is rotated by means of a rotating device 10, thereby adhering the paper end onto the surface of the take-up roll.
