PURPOSE: To provide a flat heat pipe for use in cooling a portable personal computer having a superior cooling capability.
CONSTITUTION: In a flat heat pipe 20 for use in cooling a portable personal computer having a flat sectional shape which is arranged between a heat generating location and a heat radiating location within the portable personal computer in such a way that heat can be given or received between the locations, many large diameter line members 65 are arranged within a container 21 composed of flat closed metallic pipes under a state in which they are closely contacted to each other along a longitudinal direction of the container. Wick members 28 composed of many ultra-fine wires closely contacted to each other are put between the large diameter wires 65 and the inner wall surface of the container 21.
