Title:
GAS SEPARATION FROM VAPOR-PHASE CARBON FIBER AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3430958
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and continuously remove combustible gas, for example, hydrogen from a carbon fiber produced through a vapor-phase process.
SOLUTION: In the production of a carbon fiber through a vapor-phase process, a packed bed is formed on the outlet side of a reactor for the vapor-phase carbon fiber production and an inert gas is allowed to flow from the lower part of the packed bed toward the upstream and the packed bed is compressed whereby the gas in the vapor phase carbon fiber is separated. A compression chamber 3 equipped with a compression cylinder 2 and an inert gas inlet 7 is attached to the bottom of a separation tank that forms the packed bed for the vapor-phase carbon fiber and a cut-off valve 4 is set so that the operations of the compression and exhaustion may be made switchable.
