Abstract:

To provide a gas treatment method and a device therefor which increase a heat quantity in a by-product gas discharged from a converter or the like of a steel mill.

A by-product gas such as a converter gas and dust such as converter dust, both produced in a steel mill, and water are mixed together and the carbon dioxide in the by-product gas is dissolved in water to produce carbonic acid. The carbon acid is caused to react with the iron in the dust to produce hydrogen, and the carbon dioxide in the by-product gas is changed into hydrogen, thereby increasing the heat quantity in the by-product gas.
