Title:
HIGH DAMPING CELL AND EARTHQUAKE-RESPONSE REDUCTION CONSTRUCTION USING IT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1162314
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease relative displacement between the upper-lower ends of a comparatively simple device at a low cost by reducing response in an earthquake of a building by the device and shortening the natural period of the comparatively light-weight building such as a detached house. SOLUTION: The high damping cell 1 constituted by filling the inside of a housing pipe 3 such as a cylindrical mesh-filled polyvinyl chloride pipe with high damping sand 2 such as asphalt and, in which asphalt thin-film layers are formed on the surfaces of sand, and installing upper-lower end plates 5 is mounted between the upper beam and lower beam of a building. The upper building is borne stably by the same rigidity as the sand of high damping sand, and the natural period of the building is shortened and relative displacement between the upper and lower ends of a device is reduced while external force working to the building such as an earthquake is damped by the damping function of high external force and the vibrations of the building are lowered largely.
