Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generator which generates a predetermined amount of hydrogen gas by a simple mechanism and a simple process, and a fuel cell system using the same, and to provide a method for generating hydrogen.SOLUTION: A hydrogen generating agent 34 including aluminum as a main component is hung in a hydrogen generator 10 and is housed in a reaction vessel 30. The hydrogen generating agent 34 and a reaction solution 35 including an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide are made to react with each other in the reaction vessel 30 so as to generate hydrogen gas. At this moment, a reaction by-product including no alkali metal is deposited on the bottom of the reaction vessel 30 by controlling the concentration of the alkali metal hydroxide in the reaction solution 35 to be in a predetermined concentration, and simultaneously controlling a temperature of the reaction solution 35 at a predetermined value so as to prevent generation of the reaction by-product including the alkali metal.
