Abstract:
To detect that when a process cartridge is attached to an image forming apparatus body, a coupling is normally fitted to the image forming apparatus body without providing a new sensor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a process cartridge 70 that has a photoconductor drum 1, a developing unit 4 having a developing roller 25, and an Oldham coupling 20 transmitting the drive of a driving section of the image forming apparatus to a supply roller 34; a density sensor 110 that detects the density of a toner image on an intermediate transfer belt 9; a CPU 600 that controls formation of an image on a recording material; and a body developing coupling 91 that is fitted to the Oldham coupling 20 to transmit the drive of the driving section. When the process cartridge 70 is attached, the CPU 600 detects the state of fitting of the Oldham coupling 20 to the body developing coupling 91 based on a result of detection of the toner image formed by the attached process cartridge 70, the detection performed by the density sensor 110 (S107 to S110).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
