Response time information required for changing luminance values that can be reproduced in projected images generated by two display apparatuses, to the luminance values of the input video signals, is stored in a storage medium. The distribution ratio is determined, at which the luminance signals indicating the luminance values of the input video signals are distributed to the two display apparatuses. In this determination, a distribution ratio which minimizes response time, which is required for changing the present luminance values of the projected images generated by the two display apparatuses to the luminance values of the input video signals, is determined from the present luminance values of the projected images generated by the two display apparatuses according to the previous frame images stored in a frame buffer memory which stores the video signals for each frame, from the response time information stored in the storage medium, and from the luminance values of the input video signals.
