Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve highly accurate detection of a subject at high speed with high resolution.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging element 104 for reading out an image signal generated by photoelectric conversion, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, through a plurality of routes; an imaging element drive means 103 for driving the imaging element to read out through the plurality of routes; a plurality of subject detection means 109-112 for detecting the subject from each video data through each of the plurality of routes; a result integration means 118 for integrating the detection results output from the subject detection means; and a division control means 116 for dividing the region of the video data read out through the plurality of routes. Based on the output of the result integration means, the division control means controls to divide in such a manner that the subject is not disposed across the boundary of the regions to be divided. The imaging element drive means drives each of the plurality of routes according to the division result.
