PURPOSE: To decrease the number of times of an actual access to an optical disk memory by processing all control information on a file via a virtual device.
CONSTITUTION: A file directory recording area and a data file recording area are secured at and after the head of a recordable area of an optical disk (information recording medium). A virtual random block device is set into a system main body memory and constituted of three tables i.e. the file directory recording area including a block link table, a file entry table, and a data file address table. Then all file control information are processed via the virtual device before a file is closed just by applying the DRAW of a data file to the optical disk memory. Thus it is possible to improve the availability of an information recording medium and to decrease the number of times of the read/write access to the information recording medium.
