Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the lowering of a combustion speed when performing ignition and fuel injection during an expansion stroke, and thereby to improve combustion stability, in a center injection-type SI internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: Fuel is injected into a cylinder during an intake stoke, ignition is performed during an expansion stroke, and fuel is injected during a discharge period for the ignition in the expansion stroke. An in-cylinder injection valve 26 has first injection holes 30 and a second injection hole 32 for injecting fuel to a lower part of a plug gap part 24a. The fuel is injected so that the plug gap part 24a is sandwiched by a pair of the first injection holes 30 when viewing a combustion chamber wall face 14a from a cylinder axial line direction, and the second injection hole 32 injects the fuel toward the plug gap part 24a between a pair of the first injection holes 30. A diameter of the second injection hole 32 is set smaller than diameters of the first injection holes 30, and set so that a fuel spray from the second injection hole 32 arrives at a flame kernel after the flame kernel is drawn between a pair of fuel sprays from the first injection holes 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
