In the light emitting device 1, the surface 4 on which the translucent material 3 comes into contact with the outside has an unevenness containing at least one shape selected from a substantially pyramidal shape or a substantially conical shape. Further, the method for manufacturing the light emitting device contains the steps of forming the unevenness on a surface of a monocrystal substrate, and using the surface of the monocrystal substrate formed with the unevenness as a die to form the translucent material, thereby forming the unevenness on the surface of the translucent material.
