To provide a load carrier which can be prevented from unexpectedly coming off.

A load carrier 20 has an extension member 35 having a vehicle engaging end part 53 which can be coupled to a carrier vehicle, and a support end part 40 to which an upward extending support assembly 45 is connected. The support assembly 45 has an upright post 43 fixed to the extension member 35, and an upright support member coupled to the extension member and adapted to pivot relative to the upright post. A collar 60 is slidably engaged on a upright support member 58 which is openablhy fixed to the uprigh post in order to set the moving direction of the load carrier 20. The collar 60 has a fastener for setting the shape of the collar between an enlarged shape which enables relative slide movement between the collar 60 and the support assembly 45 and a compressed shape which can prevent the relative slide movement therebetween.
