Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a positive active material for a nonaqueous electrolytic battery by reacting a mixture of a lithium compound and a manganese compound that can be converted into a citrate with citric acid, and baking the citrate obtained.
CONSTITUTION: A lithium compound such as lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate capable of being converting into a citrate, is reacted with a manganese compound such as manganese carbonate and manganese hydroxide to obtain a coprecipitate or a mixture of metallic compounds. The coprecipitate or the mixture is reacted with citric acid to produce a composite citrate, and the compound citrate obtained is baked at 400-1100°C to produce a composite metal oxide (LiMn2O4, LiMnO2 and others). The composite metal oxide has high uniformity and high crystallinity, and is used as a positive active material for a nonaqueous electrolytic battery.
