PURPOSE: To provide a metal phthalocyanine pigment and an electrophotographic photoreceptor which is highly sensitive, undergoes a small change due to environmental conditions, can give a good image stably, and is prepared by using the pigment, especially an electrophotographic photoreceptor highly sensitive to light in the region of 750-800nm and suitable for a semiconductor laser printer.

CONSTITUTION: The metal phthalocyanine pigment comprises a metal phthalocyanine crystal in which hydrogen-bond-forming substituents bonded to the central metal of a metal phthalocyanine are bonded to the nitrogen atoms of adjacent molecules. The photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer comprising a laminate of at least a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer, and the charge generation layer is formed by dispersing the above metal phthalocyanine pigment in a binder resin.
