PURPOSE: To obtain a metal support for catalyst in which effective area is increased and also the frequency of collision and contact is increased by using expanded metal for a flat sheet or corrugated sheet having honeycomb construction and allowing the above to support combustion catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: An expanded metal formed into a net-like state is used for either or both of a corrugated sheet 3 and a flat sheet 4 made of heat resisting stainless steel and constituting a honeycomb. A combustion catalyst is supported by the above. Because a network is provided to heat resisting steel by an extremely efficient method, working cost can be reduced and material can be economized and reduced in weight. Further, the catalyst on the metal surface other than joining points can be effectively brought into contact with exhaust gas.
