Abstract:
To provide a method for forming a hydrophilic film excellent in durability conveniently in a simple way and a coated article having thus formed hydrophilic film as a topcoat layer.
This method comprises applying a solution containing an aluminum compound to a substrate to form a film, treating the film on the substrate with hot water or heated steam to form a petal-like alumina film, then forming thereon a dry film from a coating agent containing a metal chelate compound, and irradiating the dry film with an active energy ray to photodecompose chelate bonds. The coated article has a hydrophilic film formed by the method as the top coat layer.
