Abstract:

To provide a method for producing an antibacterial base material, which is prepared by depositing nanoparticles to a titanium oxide base material and can exhibit high bactericidal effect, and to provide the antibacterial base material.

Sterilization performance is improved when a mesoporous titanium oxide base material is formed and silver nanoparticles of single nano size are deposited to it. Approximately 100% disinfection on Escherichia coli under UV irradiation is achieved when the silver nanoparticles of single size are deposited from an arc plasma evaporation source to the mesoporous titanium oxide base material formed of mesoporous titanium oxide particles supported on a glass substrate beneath.
