Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hydrogen wherein a hydrogen-containing gas which includes only a few nitrogen, CO and the like is produced by decomposing a fuel containing an organic matter at low temperatures without supplying an electric energy or while supplying only a few electric energy from the outside, and a hydrogen-producing apparatus.
SOLUTION: The hydrogen-producing method and hydrogen-producing apparatus for producing the hydrogen-containing gas by decomposing the fuel containing the organic matter are characterized in that one surface of a separating membrane 11 is provided with a fuel electrode 12 and the fuel containing the organic matter and water is supplied thereto while the other surface of the separating membrane 11 is provided with an oxidizing electrode 14 and an oxidant is supplied thereto, so that the fuel containing the organic matter is decomposed and the hydrogen-containing gas is generated at the fuel electrode 12 side. The hydrogen-producing method and hydrogen-producing apparatus include (a) the case of an open circuit of without supplying the electric energy from the outside and without taking out the electric energy to the outside from a hydrogen-producing cell 10 constituting the hydrogen-producing apparatus, (b) the case of taking out the electric energy to the outside with the fuel electrode 12 as a negative pole and the oxidizing electrode 14 as a positive pole, and (c) the case of applying the electric energy from the outside with the fuel electrode 12 as the cathode and the oxidizing electrode 14 as the anode.
