Title:
METHOD FOR RECOVERING CRUDE INDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008214693
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently recovering, at an economical cost, crude indium having a purity suitable for electrolytic refining from scraps containing indium zinc oxide (IZO).

This method for recovering crude indium used for electrolytic refining from IZO-containing scraps comprises the following steps (1) to (4) and is characterized in that, in a step (3), an aluminum sheet is used as a displacing agent: a step (1) where powdered IZO-containing scraps are leached with hydrochloric acid to prepare a leachate: a step (2) where an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is added to the leachate to carry out pH adjustment; a step (3) where a displacing agent is immersed in the leachate after the pH adjustment to deposit spongy indium by displacement; and a step (4) where sodium hydroxide is added to the spongy indium to carry out dissolution and hereby the crude indium is obtained.
