Abstract:

To economically remove fulvene compounds from a mixed solution of a cyclopentadiene compound containing the fulvene compounds.

The method for the removal of fulvene compounds comprises the addition of a mixed solution of a cyclopentadiene compound containing fulvene compounds to a system while carrying out continuous evaporation and distillation of water and the removal of the fulvene compounds by the azeotropic distillation with water. The fulvene compounds are industrially removed at a low cost by the method and the obtained pure cyclopentadiene compound is useful for the industrial production of a metallocene compound useful as a polymerization catalyst component.
