Abstract:

PURPOSE: To confirm easily presence of dehydrating capacity of a molecular sieve to be used for dehydration by the color change by constituting the molecular sieve by adsorbing an inorganic compd. which is decolored by combining with water molecules, to the molecular sieve.

CONSTITUTION: A molecular sieve is dipped in a soln. of an inorganic compd. which is decolored by combining with water molecules in a hydrophilic org. solvent, and a molecular sieve to be used for dehydration is produced by adsorbing said inorg. compd. to the molecular sieve. Concrete examples for the inorg. compd. are AlI3, Ba(NO2)3, Ca(ClO3)2, CoBr2, CoCl2, Co(IO3)2, CoI2, CuSO4, CuCl2, etc. Preferred temp. for dipping the molecular sieve in the soln. of said inorganic compd. of a hydrophilic org. solvent is ≤60°C.
