PURPOSE: To perform superior electromagnetic rabbling by segmenting the wall from the portion, opposing to an electromagnetic oscillating core, of the molten metal casting mold provided with an electromagnetic induction device on the outside circumference thereof up to the top end of the opening in the thickness direction and inserting a thin piece of ferromagnetic material having an electrical insulation characteristic film in the space communicating the segments.
CONSTITUTION: The portion of a mold wall 1 from the section opposing to an electromagnetic oscillating core 3 up to the top end of the opening is segmented in the thickness direction and a minute clearance communicating these segments is formed. A thin piece 2 comprising ferromagnetic material formed with an electrical insulating film is interposed in this clearance. The electrical insulating film is a metal oxide film, enameled film, etc. and the ferromagnetic thin piece used is silicon steel, Ni steel, etc. If continuous casting is performed with this device, the insulation characteristic film breaks the eddy current circuit generated in the mold wall and the ferromagnetic thin piece 2 transmits magnetic flux efficiently up to the upper part of the mold; therefore, the molten metal is effectively rabbled.
