PURPOSE: To record/reproduce a moving picture in real time by dividing a recording area into a number being 1/2 or less the track number where a recording/reproduction head is moved within the vertical blanking period and recording the moving picture in circulation sequentially.

CONSTITUTION: The recording area of a recording medium is divided into recording areas 11-18 while each division area has a track number being a half or less the track number on which a recording/reproduction head is moved within the vertical blanking period included in a moving picture signal to be recorded, and each picture forming the moving picture is recorded on each recording area according to a predetermined order by using one or plural consecutive frames of the picture as a unit. Thus, the jump from one of recording areas 11-18 to a succeeding area 11-18 is attained always within the vertical blanking period. Thus, even when the recording of a longer track than the erased track in the repetition of the information recording/reproduction is made, the consecutive recording and reproduction in real time is attained.
