Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase a substantial capacity density and control charging with ease and make very quick charging possible with a large current flow by making a cadmium magnetic plate contain stannic oxide at a specific rate to a total quantity of cadmium. CONSTITUTION:A charging efficiency before cadmium hydroxide is generated when a cadmium negative plate mainly composed of cadmium hydroxide or cadmium oxide and metallic cadmium as active material is charged by an electric current of 1CA on the basis of a theoretical capacity of cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide is approx. 93%; however, when stannic oxide is contained at 0.5-20wt.% of a total quantity of cadmium, the charging efficiency increases to approx. 98%. If a change in potential made until generation of hydrogen at a charging time is detected as a change in terminal voltage by use of this negative plate having a good charging efficiency, charging control is easy, and if a constant voltage is set at that point of time, a current flow becomes small in an overcharge region, so that an alkaline secondary battery capable of a quick charge and also free from loss of electrolyte is produced.
