PURPOSE: To obtain a new 3,6-diamino-2,5-pyrazinedicarbonitrile derivative useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemical and medicine, perfume, high polymer, etc., or as a functional material such as electroluminescence or wavelength-converting material.
CONSTITUTION: A cyanopyrazine derivative expressed by formula I [R1 to R4 are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, trialkylsilyl, COR5, COOR6, CONR7R8 (R5 to R8 are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl or hetero ring) or R1 and R2 or/and R3 and R4 together form a ring or C(R9)ORr10, CHNR11R12 (R9 to R12 are alkyl or aryl), etc., except for the compound wherein R1 to R4 are all H]. The compound expressed by formula I wherein R1 to R4 are H, alkyl, alkenyl and alkynyl is obtained by reacting 3,6-diamino-2,5-pyrazinecarbonitrile expressed by formula II with adequate alkylating agent, e.g. phosphoric acid triester.
