Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a tape coating having excellent impact-resistance and a long service life by forming an inner wrap for covering a surface of a tubular article to be protected and an outer wrap positioned over the inner wrap to comprise respective specific compositions, heating and thereafter cooling the wraps so as to fuse them together.
CONSTITUTION: A tape wrap system comprises an inner wrap covering a surface of a tubular article to be protected; and an outer wrap positioned over the inner wrap. In this case, the inner wrap is composed of an impact-resistant polyolefine layer having an adhesive layer on its inner surface and a layer comprising a heat fusible material on its outer surface, or a single layer composed of a blend of an impact-resistant component and a heat fusible component and having an adhesive layer on its inner surface. On the other hand, the outer wrap comprises an impact-resistant polyolefine layer having a heat fusible layer on both surfaces or an inner surface thereof, or a single layer comprising a blend of an impact resistant component and a heat fusible component. Further, the inner wrap and the outer wrap are fused together when the tape wrap system is heated and thereafter cooled.
