To provide a technique capable of sharing an identifier of a virtual connection(VC) in common by nodes at both ends of the VC, without transmission of a message in in-band to the VC and imparting the common identifier sufficient in capacity.
First in the case of setting a VC, nodes 1 at both ends of the VC exchange a signaling message, including an identifier (BLLI) to temporarily recognize each other in common. A cross reference between the BLLI and other identifier (VCID) to allow the nodes at both ends of the VC to recognize each other in common is managed, a message (VCID PROPOSE or VCID REQUEST ACK) including the VCID so as to cross-reference with the BLLI by other VC than the set VC above is sent or received, and then the VCID is used for the common identifier of the VC.
