PURPOSE: To suppress the capacity loss generated in the first cycle and increase the charging and discharging capacity and volume energy density by putting the face interval in specified direction of a negative carbonic material, the size of crystals, and the lattice distortion in specified range.
CONSTITUTION: A nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery is equipped with a positive electrode 1 including lithium, a negative electrode 2 consisting of carbonic material, and a nonaqueous lithium ion conductive electrolyte. For this negative electrode material, the face interval of 002 face being sought by X-ray wide-angle diffraction method is 3.45-3.55, and the distortion of the lattice of the crystal being sought from the size of the crystal in the direction of c axis sought from the peak equivalent to 002 face and the size of the crystal in the direction of c axis sought from the peak equivalent to 004 face is 0.04-0.07. Hereby, the occlusion and discharge amounts of lithium at the time of charging and discharging in high current density can be increased, and also the capacity loss can be lessened.
