To provide a compound useful as a reagent for measuring lipid peroxide, to provide the reagent for measuring the lipid peroxide containing the compound, and to provide a method for measuring the lipid peroxide using the same.
A compound which has a perylene structure and a phosphorus atom-containing group in its molecule is used as the reagent. A perylene derivative which selectively reacts with the lipid peroxide and gives a fluorescent substance is provided as a preferable embodiment in the specification. When the compound is used as the reagent for measuring the lipid peroxide, the lipid peroxide is fluorometrically detected, while controlling an effect of autofluorescence derived from an intracellular component on a measuring system, and further while controlling damage to a living cell caused by irradiation with excited light in a measuring system in which the living cell is used.
