Title:
PHOTOELECTRIC CONVERTER AND IMAGE READER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02275670
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate light quantity loss, to improve SN ratio, to remove after image and to remove mixed color by separating a photoelectric conversion region at each cell, and providing a photoelectric converter having at least two different spectral sensitivity characteristics.

CONSTITUTION: Photoconductive films 67, 71, 75 are separated as photoelectric conversion layers at pixels Clg, Clb so that each film itself has a color filter function. That is, in order to impart color filter functions to the films 67, 71, 75, the films are formed of semiconductor materials having spectral sensitivity characteristics including different peak wavelengths. For example, photoconductive films 40-50, 64, 66-68 having spectral sensitivity characteristic so that the wavelength of a read light becomes peak in the pixel Clr for recognizing a red light are, for example, provided to impart color filter function to the films. Thus, since no light quantity loss occurs, signal charge amount is increased and hence S/N ratio can be enhanced.
